Editorial policy

Guides are written and edited by the Moathaq editorial team. We may use software for spelling, grammar and translation checks. We do not publish machine-generated text that no editor has rewritten and checked, and we do not mass-produce pages for every area or keyword.

We publish Arabic and English versions side by side and aim for them to say the same thing. If you see a difference, tell us.

Claims about rules, fees and procedures are checked against the issuing authority's own pages: the economic departments of each emirate (such as DET in Dubai and ADDED in Abu Dhabi), the free zones, the Federal Tax Authority, MOHRE, the Dubai Land Department and others. The editorial team reviews every guide before it goes live.

Prices on price guides are indicative ranges compiled by the editorial team from published rate cards and typical market prices, mostly in Dubai; prices in the other emirates are often similar or somewhat lower. Each price guide shows the month it was last reviewed. They are not government tariffs and they are not quotes: always ask the company for a written quote.

Each guide shows the date it was published and the date it was last updated. We aim to review price guides about every quarter, and rule-based guides at least every six months or whenever an authority changes a rule. A date changes only when the content changes.

If you find an error, use the report form or write to hello@moathaq.com. We aim to reply within two working days. We correct factual errors in the page, change the updated date and add a short note at the foot of the page that says what changed. We do not quietly edit a statement that readers may have relied on.

Businesses cannot pay to be mentioned in a guide, to change a guide or to appear in a price table. We do not accept guest posts or articles written by listed businesses. Where a guide links to a category on Moathaq, the link points to the category page, never to a single paid business.
