In the UAE, domestic workers such as housemaids and nannies are recruited through Tadbeer centres, which are licensed and supervised by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE). Tadbeer centres handle recruitment, the visa, the medical test, the contract and the worker's training, and they can also supply a worker on a temporary basis.

Hiring options

You can sponsor the worker yourself after recruitment through a Tadbeer centre, or have the worker sponsored by the centre and pay a monthly fee. The second option suits families who want flexibility or a short arrangement. Either way, the standard MOHRE domestic worker contract sets out the salary, working hours, rest days and leave.

What it costs in 2026

  • Monthly salary, housemaid: often AED 1,200 to 2,500, depending on nationality and experience
  • Monthly salary, experienced nanny: often AED 2,000 to 4,000
  • Recruitment package with visa and medical: often AED 10,000 to 20,000
  • Worker sponsored by the centre, all-inclusive: often AED 3,000 to 5,000 per month

These are typical Dubai prices; in the other emirates prices are often similar or somewhat lower.

Before you pay

Hire only through a licensed Tadbeer centre and check its licence with MOHRE. Read the contract and ask about the guarantee period in which the centre must replace the worker or refund part of the fee. Pay the salary on time, keep proof of payment and never keep the worker's passport.

Check the badge first, then read the reviews and the response rate. Ask for a written quote that names the company on the licence, and pay only to an account in that company's name.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE). Domestic workers are recruited through MOHRE-licensed Tadbeer centres, which handle the contract, visa, medical test and training. Check that the centre is listed by MOHRE before paying anything.

How much does a maid or nanny cost in the UAE?

In 2026 a housemaid's salary is often AED 1,200 to 2,500 a month and an experienced nanny's AED 2,000 to 4,000. A recruitment package is often AED 10,000 to 20,000, and a worker sponsored by the centre often costs AED 3,000 to 5,000 a month all-inclusive. These are typical Dubai prices; in the other emirates prices are often similar or somewhat lower.

What rights does a domestic worker have?

The MOHRE contract and UAE law give domestic workers a weekly rest day, daily rest hours, paid annual leave, medical care and the right to keep their own passport and ID. Salaries must be paid on time. Ask the Tadbeer centre to explain the contract to both of you before signing.

What if the worker is not a good fit?

Tadbeer contracts include a guarantee period in which the centre must replace the worker or refund part of the fee, under conditions set out in the contract. Ask how long the period is and what it covers before you pay, and keep every receipt.
