What moves the price
- Volume. The number of items and the size of the truck are the biggest drivers.
- Access. Stairs with no lift, a long carry from the loading bay and a late building slot all add time.
- Time of month and year. End of month, June to August and the school year start are peak periods; mid-month and mid-week save 10 to 20 percent.
- Packing and dismantling. Full packing can add 30 to 50 percent to a moving quote.
- Building rules. Move permits, lift booking and refundable deposits of AED 500 to 2,000 vary by building.
How to read these prices
These are indicative ranges compiled by the Moathaq editorial team from published rate cards, public tariffs and typical market prices. They are not government tariffs and they are not quotes. Last reviewed: October 2026. Your quote will differ, so always ask for a written quote before work starts.
Prices are for moves within Dubai by a licensed company and exclude VAT of 5 percent where applicable. These are typical Dubai prices; in the other emirates prices are often similar or somewhat lower. For a move between emirates, add the inter-emirate surcharge. A quote based on a video survey is far more reliable than a phone estimate from a list of items.
Our checklist for moving house in the UAE covers the tenancy registration (Ejari in Dubai), utility (DEWA in Dubai) and notice steps around the move.
How to get a fair quote
Get three quotes after a video survey or a visit. The quote should list vehicles, workers, packing, dismantling and reassembly, insurance and the time window.
Ask what happens if the move runs over, and what cover applies to damage in transit. Treat a deposit above 30 percent before the move as a risk.
Red flags
Be careful with an unbranded pickup at half the price. A crew that demands extra money before unloading is a known pattern.
