Pest Control in the UAE

Pest control in the UAE is regulated because it puts chemicals inside homes and food premises. In Dubai, Dubai Municipality approves the companies and the products; in the other emirates the local municipality or authority does. A company should hold both a trade licence with a pest control activity and that approval.

Ask for the approval certificate number and its expiry date, then confirm both with the approving authority (in Dubai, Dubai Municipality's contact centre on 800900). Restaurants and shops need a contract with an approved company to keep their food licence.

What a proper service includes

A treatment starts with an inspection to identify the pest, then a method to match:

  • Cockroaches: gel baits
  • Ants: residual spray
  • Bed bugs: heat or insecticide
  • Rodents: bait stations

Ask the technician to identify the pest and show where it enters, because spraying the wrong species or the wrong place is the usual reason a problem returns.

What it costs in 2026

  • General treatment, studio: AED 150 to 300
  • General treatment, villa: AED 400 to 1,200

These are typical Dubai prices; in the other emirates prices are often similar or somewhat lower.

Expect a warranty of 3 to 6 months and a service report after each visit.

After the visit

Sealing gaps, fixing leaks and storing food in closed containers do as much as the treatment. Where the source is the building, such as a shared riser, tell the management and keep each service report as evidence.

Check the badge first, then read the reviews and the response rate. Ask for a written quote that names the company on the licence, and pay only to an account in that company's name. See typical prices in our price guide.

Frequently asked questions

Does a pest control company need municipality approval?

Yes, from the municipality or authority of the emirate (Dubai Municipality in Dubai), and on top of that a trade licence with a pest control activity. Ask for the approval certificate number and expiry date, confirm it with the approving authority (Dubai Municipality on 800900 in Dubai), and ask to see the technician's ID and training certificate when they arrive.

How much does pest control cost in the UAE?

In 2026 a general treatment costs AED 150 to 300 for a studio, AED 200 to 400 for a one-bedroom and AED 400 to 1,200 for a villa. Bed bugs run AED 350 to 900, termites AED 800 to 3,000 and annual home contracts AED 400 to 1,200. These are typical Dubai prices; in the other emirates prices are often similar or somewhat lower.

What are the red flags?

Be cautious of an unlicensed worker at the door, a company that will not name the product, fumigation offered in an occupied tower, a promise to remove pests forever and a treatment that ends without a report. Fumigation with aluminium phosphide indoors is dangerous.

How long must I stay out after a treatment?

Usually 2 to 4 hours after a spray and longer for fumigation, and the technician must tell you before starting. Remove or seal food, move pets and fish tanks, and ventilate afterwards. If anyone feels unwell, leave, ventilate and call 998.
