What moves the price
- Material. Solid wood, veneer, MDF and plywood differ widely in price and in how they handle UAE humidity.
- Finish. Lacquer, veneer and soft-close hardware add 20 to 40 percent.
- Design complexity. Curves, lighting and custom inserts take workshop time.
- Workshop or onsite. Work made in a workshop and installed costs more than simple onsite fitting, but is neater.
- Lead time. Rush orders cost more. Allow 3 to 6 weeks for custom joinery.
How to read these prices
These are indicative ranges compiled by the Moathaq editorial team from published rate cards, public tariffs and typical market prices. They are not government tariffs and they are not quotes. Last reviewed: October 2026. Your quote will differ, so always ask for a written quote before work starts.
Prices are what a household pays a licensed workshop for supply and installation, excluding VAT of 5 percent. These are typical Dubai prices; in the other emirates prices are often similar or somewhat lower. Joinery quoted per linear metre usually assumes a standard depth and height; custom dimensions change the figure.
Humidity and AC cycles in the UAE move wood. Ask which boards the workshop uses for wardrobes and kitchens, and whether they are moisture-resistant.
How to get a fair quote
Ask for a drawing or a 3D view with dimensions, the materials and hardware brands, and the installation date. Approve it in writing before cutting starts.
Pay in stages: a deposit of 30 to 50 percent for custom orders, balance on installation. See our guide on checking a contractor before paying.
Red flags
Check that the workshop's licence covers carpentry or joinery, and that your building allows workshop-made installation hours.
