What moves the price
- Minimum charge. Many companies bill one hour minimum, so a bundle of small jobs in one visit is cheaper.
- Wall type. Concrete, gypsum and tiles each need different tools and time.
- Materials. Brackets, anchors and fittings are usually charged separately.
- Building permits. Drilling in some towers needs permission, and a building NOC can add a deposit.
How to read these prices
These are indicative ranges compiled by the Moathaq editorial team from published rate cards, public tariffs and typical market prices. They are not government tariffs and they are not quotes. Last reviewed: October 2026. Your quote will differ, so always ask for a written quote before work starts.
These are typical Dubai prices; in the other emirates prices are often similar or somewhat lower.
A handyman does like-for-like repairs and fittings. A handyman is not a licensed electrician, plumber or gas fitter, and should not change circuits, move water supplies or work on gas lines.
The edge cases are where problems begin. Our guide to electrical work in Dubai shows where maintenance ends and modification begins.
How to get a fair quote
List every job before you book and ask for one price for the visit. Ask for the materials to be itemised, and whether the minimum charge applies once or per job.
Check the company's licence activity for building maintenance, and ask for a written warranty of at least 30 days on the work.
Red flags
Be careful with a price by message for a job nobody has seen, and with cash-only freelancers who give no invoice.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a handyman charge per hour in the UAE?
Typically AED 60 to 120 per hour from a company in Dubai in 2026, often similar or somewhat less in the other emirates, with a one-hour minimum. Bundle small jobs into one visit.
Do I need landlord permission to drill walls?
Check your tenancy contract. Many allow small holes for shelves and TVs, but not structural changes. Some towers also require building permission.
